Comment from  Simon Randfield  20-Jul-2006 8:02 AM I have run something similar the last couple of years and think its a great idea ,esp with pubs at either end. We've gone for an early am start to allow a drink at the finishing pub (washed down with some food), with our families. Great idea!

Comment from  Alex  27-Jul-2006 9:01 PM There was a gap in the Calendar this year, with no races on the weekend of the 13/14 May, but I'm not sure the same thing will happen next year (I think it was because May day was early)- There is always the first half of April or later in October.

Comment from  Alex  23-Sep-2006 10:32 AM I dont think it has been raced before, we usualy do about once a year as a club run, taking 3 to 4 hours, but I think the race times will ba a lot quicker than that. We've been trying to set a date, May is a bit too busy, April is lambing season, so we are looking at the last weekend in March. Could make the route slightly more chalenging as there will probably be some Snow.

Comment from  Alex  25-Oct-2006 11:07 AM Ochil's 2000 Race - Date is provisionaly set for 25 August. So we can have changing Facilities at the finish, the course now has a little sting in the tail - Dumyat as the last Check Point.

Do you have a GR and is there a recognised route from Dumyat (nothing obvious on 1:50000)? Great idea for a race by the way

Comment from  Gareth Bryan-Jones  19-Dec-2006 8:01 PM I think Ochils 2000's would be a great race - quite like the idea of orienteering type controls on summits and find your own route - interesting choices as how to get up and down King's Seat. For a real challenge - the Ochil 2000's with the start and finish in the same place. I have done it a few time from my home in Causewayhead and also from Logie church car park. Could be done starting and finishing at the University.

I walked the route from Tormaukin to the Sheriffmuir Inn a couple of years ago and was planning to run it when I come over in March (I'm working in Dublin just now). What's the latest - is it still set for August?

I ran a recce of the route last weekend and may be a point to mention on the rise to Blairdenon that there once has been an old metal fence which now has only the metal bases of the posts remaining hidden in the grass on the slightly trodden path on the way up to the hilltop....one of which I stepped on and it burst right through my mudroc sole and into my foot!! Might be something to be aware of for runners.
